Polaris Dawn crew safely splashed down off the coast of Florida on 15 September 15 after spending nearly five days in space.
Jared Isaacman, Kidd Poteet, Sarah Gillis, and Anna Menon launched aboard SpaceX’s Dragon spacecraft, boosted by Falcon 9 rocket, on 10 September to low-Earth orbit from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
First, the astronauts raised their orbit to 1400 kilometres and were the highest-flying humans since the Apollo missions 50 years ago. After lowering the orbit again, Isaacman and Gillis conducted a spacewalk using SpaceX's new space suits.
