Andreas Mogensen and Marcus Wandt

ESA's Danish astronaut Andreas Mogensen will launch to space on 25 August for his first long-duration mission. According to the current plan, he'll stay in orbit for almost six months on his Huginn mission.

During his mission, the Swedish astronaut Marcus Wandt will visit the station on his flight taking place in early 2024. Wandt is one of the ESA's reserve astronauts, who will fly on Axiom Space's commercial flight opportunity. His Muninn mission is funded by Sweden and coordinated with ESA.

Both astronauts are now in Cape Kennedy, Andreas in quarantee before his mission and Marcus learning the launch procedusres.

The mission names of the two Scandinavian astronauts emerge from Norse mythology: Muninn and Huginn are Odin's two ravens.
